Target Groups
ACCESS YOUR SUCCESS – SOFT SKILLS FOR ACTIVE YOUTH is addressed to youth ages 19 to 25 including NEET youth – utilizes non-formal methods for experiential learning – theater and game board design in the process of learning through experimenting for the youth involved in the project.
Project Activities
After taking part in the project, the participants will better understand the requirements that employers have and the importance of continual development of soft skills when applying for a job, but also for maintaining it and at the same time will also improve the quality of personal interaction. The youth will participate in activities designed to enable them with practical communication techniques and assertive negotiation skills, activities during which they will develop self-leadership skills (the curricula including Dale Carnegie, Paul Martinelli, John Maxwell and others), AT techniques for communication (transactional analysis). Young people will discover how to give and receive feedback, interaction models during an interview, in the professional setting and in the personal environment – through role play, improv theater. By developing a board game the participants will be able to build a parallel between the strategic consolidation of their vocational path and also become aware of the importance of cooperation in reaching a common objective. Such practical, experiential interventions increase the impact of the information and techniques that are presented by adding playfulness and non-formal in the process.
The activities specific to theater art can be also replicated and customized. The activities will be conducted by a a facilitator or a facilitator and an assistant-facilitator with experience in the field which we will select together with the organizations involved in the project through a public call. We wish to involve facilitators of any age, with the condition of meeting the specializations mentioned in the description of the activities (expertise in communication, theater and board games). In selecting participants for the youth exchange each organization will include 2 young people in the NEET category (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). As a host-organization we will set and example by encouraging the other organizations to act in the following manner in selecting participants: we will first launch the participant selection call by first addressing the Rosiori de Vede community and then extending the call to Teleorman county (strongly affected by unemployment in both adult and young community, according to AJOFM Teleorman), then to the Sud-Muntenia region and, in line with available applicant positions – a national call. This approach allow selection of participants from local community and gradual expansion of the nucleus and action radius, allowing for easy and recurring acces in part of the association with regard to participants, after their return from the learning experience.
